Officials from the Commission of Higher Education formally turned over to Tarlac State University the property transfer report of the technology used in the project “Flexible Learning as the New Normal and Emerging and Technology for an Improved and Innovative Education” today (March 11) at the TSU Main AVR.

In 2021, TSU was the first state university to receive a grant, allowing the College of Engineering (then College of Engineering and Technology) to conduct online laboratory classes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This software, amounting to almost five million pesos, was funded through CHED’s Institutional Development and Innovation Grants (IDIG) project for flexible learning. It is a multi-faceted, interactive e-learning solution for engineering technology and STEM using different teaching tools such as text, 3D animation, video, audio, and virtual simulation.

This program may be used not only by COE students but also by the students from the College of Industrial Technology.

TSU President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco said that he was very grateful for CHED and was proud of its impact on the students, as evidenced by the improved passing rate of the board exams.

He also encourages other colleges to submit proposals to CHED IDIG with the hopes of grant approval.

COE Dean Dr. Miriam S. Galvez also thanked the Commission, saying that their faculty members continue to familiarize themselves with the system since the university holds online classes every first week of the month as part of the alternative work arrangement for faculty members and lecturers.

The CHED Central Office representatives present during the turnover are Senior Education Program Specialist Ms. Adelma Tercia, Project Technical Staff II Ms. Ma. Charlene Aban, Administrative Officer IV Mr. Marlond Santiano, and Project Technical Staff II Mr. Wendon Cajuilan. Meanwhile, Dr. Efren F. Abulencia, Education Supervisor II, represented CHED Regional Office III. (jlmm-OPA)
